RONALDINHO IS IN TOWN! AC MILAN VS MONTREAL IMPACT TONIGHT

June 2nd, 2010 · Things to Do

Tonight I’m heading to the AC Milan Montreal Impact friendly at the Olympic stadium. Yes sir!

Ronaldinho will be playing and even though we’re in the nosebleed section, I’ll still be able to see him from afar.

Apparently one of the conditions for bringing AC Milan to Montreal was installing turf inside the Big O.  Be interested to see what that looks like, I’ll take a few shaky photos with my trusty iPhone and post them in a bit.

Grocery Store Outfit: March 6th, 2010

March 6th, 2010 · Belle & Michigan, Grocery Store Outfits

Today the weather hit 10+ degrees y’all! It was sunny & cloudless. I don’t know why I didn’t get any ice cream cuz then the day would of been pretty much perfect.

Took Belle & Michigan out for a long walk and they fared pretty well with all the sights. Now we’re talking horses, tourists, suburbanites w/ their kiddies who all want to smother the puppies (I don’t blame them, no hate, just appreciate!) and dudes on roller blades. Oh yes how could I forget, there was also a shit load of other dogs out on strolls. Belle & Michigan made a few new friends and sniffed a few butts, nice Saturday afternoon indeed.

Grocery Store Outfit: February 28th, 2010

February 28th, 2010 · Grocery Store Outfits

I’ve been working for like 7 days non-stop on a design portfolio and I think I’ve gone c-c-crazy. I’ve started obsessing over font types and paper grades. FML!

I thought to salvage whatever sanity I had left, I needed a little break, you knowz, a little retail therapy break. I headed out on the hunt for THIGH HIGHS (not knee highs where it seems that’s what’s everyone is selling) and I eventually found a pair of DKNY thigh highs. I’m totally gonna test them out at MFW 18 (Montreal Fashion Week 18th Edition)

Even after the shopping excursion, I’m still frazzled but I did stop thinking about “artistic statements” and 3D modeling for at least two whole hours. AND Sidney scored the winning goal for our 14th gold medal y’all!!!

RPATTZ IS TOTALLY SLEEPING IN MY BED

February 17th, 2010 · Amazeballs & Lamesauce, Is That What You Had Just Said?

after I buy him from Esty that is. These Twilight ‘Manllows‘ are as the site says, “half man, half pillow”.

How about “half amazeballs, half lamesauce” but “half sexy, half creepy” too.

Made of soft cotton jersey, screen printed face, polyester stuffing and love, you can get your own Edward Cullen to dry hump till high heaven when it comes back into stock.

You know what? Twilight “Manllows” should be part of every slumber party. You can sleep with both Taylor Lautner AND Robert Pattinson at the same time. Too much? Maybe. But don’t the Twihards have this weird intense devotion in that flattery from afar but obsessed up close kind of way? I wish I had that kind of blind dedication to my own causes. So now who’s buying my RPattz?

RPattz, you make everything okay because you sparkle.

2010 Winter Olympics: 10 Things You Didn’t Know

February 12th, 2010 · As Seen on the TV, Is That What You Had Just Said?

Today marks the official start of the 21st Winter Olympics y’all!

This will be the third Olympics hosted by Canada, and the first by the province of British Columbia. Previously, we have been home to the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec (youpiee!) and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta. I put together some tid bits about the Vancouver Winter Olympics you may not know about. Sure there are other top 10 lists floating out there but they’re super boring. It’s not just about the attendance numbers or cost of the events. It’s the little things that make you go “eh?” Like…

1. Bringing Home the Gold
No Canadian athlete has ever won an Olympic gold medal on home soil. That’s a big time bummer but we’re hoping we will win a few gold this time around. Or just one would suffice. Just one.

2. Because the Cost of Housing in Vancouver is NOT High Enough
The condos (townhouses whathaveyou) where the athletes are staying are 98 per cent sold and homeowners are being allowed to hang framed photos of themselves and their families. In exchange, athletes will be encouraged to leave their own photos or a note giving some owners the prospect bumping up the property value, especially if their athletes’ win medals! (Cough cough, gold please)

3. Where’s Mom When You Need Her?
Athletes will have to do their own laundry. Groan. BUT the detergent and the use of the machines will be free of charge.

4. Solid, Like a Rock
The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at BC Place stadium. Since the stadium was built to have a solid roof, this will be the first time that the Olympic torch will be lit indoors.

5. Wrap it Up!
100,000 free condoms will be available at the 2010 Winter Olympics, and then some. It’s no secret that after years of disciple and training, athletes will get a little frisky at the games. Who wouldn’t be? Close quarters, celebrating wins OR sulking after loses, everyone needs a little lovin’. The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control donated 100,000 condoms to the 6,850 Olympic and Paralympic athletes and staff. That may be a tad optimistic since that comes out to be about 14 condoms per person.

6. Cool Runnings Dreams Could Come True!
How awesome was the Cool Runnings? Hilarious. But on a more serious note, Ghana, Bahamas, Gabon and The Cayman Islands will make their Winter Olympic Debut in our 2010 games.

7. British Columbia’s “Environomics” Prevails Again!
The 2010 Games boast “the greenest medals yet”. The medals include recycled metal reclaimed from electronic waste. No hemp though.

8. WTF is Ski Cross?
Ski cross (also known as skiercross or skier-X) is based on the snowboarding discipline of boardercross. Fact! Despite it being a timed racing event, it is often considered part of freestyle skiing because it incorporates terrain features traditionally found in freestyle. Sure. That being said, Ski cross will make its debut at the 2010 Winter Olympics; it’s the only new event at these Winter Games.

9. Mama, I’m Scared.
Bears, (yes big bad ass bears) are one of the security threats at Whistler athletes’ village, which is why conservation officers are part of the Integrated Security Unit.

10. Nova Scotia Represent!
My sister and her crew use to hang out with Sidney Crosby in Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia. (For those don’t know, he’s the Alternate captain for the Canadian Olympic Hockey team). But strangely enough she doesn’t call him by his name; she just calls him “that hockey guy”. :)

LA ROUX + NAOMI LEE = METROPOLIS

February 6th, 2010 · Music Music Music

I’m drinking heavily and about to head out the La Roux show up the street. I’m pumped! I saw her at Osheaga in the summer but for like a millisecond. But tonight I plan to thoroughly enjoy this lovely Brit’s musak! There’s an after party I think Mary Hell is throwing at Velvet which is also near my place, I *might* stop by to check it outs, we’ll see.

PROSCIUTTO, FROMAGGIO E PAPA

February 5th, 2010 · Naomi Lee Photography, Yum Yum

Not that I don’t love taking photos of pretty young things in leggings or nothing at all, sometimes you gotta scale it back and get back to the basics. I love people and I love portraiture. And I try to not be cheesy about it. I think that a photo of person should be honest and simple. Those are the best types of portraits I think. I also kind of miss when photos of your grandpa or family were with a crappy 35 mm that you go processed at the drug store. Awkward? Definitely; but they were the BEST!

That being said, I recently started doing more portraiture of people who are cool. Like too cool for me or for you. Like my friend’s grandpa below. I’m trying to get this picture published in an Italian magazine based out of Montreal because:

  1. He’s from a part of Italy where it looks like the Godfather movie was filmed
  2. He served in World War II and looked SICK in uniform
  3. He makes his own prosciutto, wine and sausage in his garage (all of which are DELICIOUS!)
  4. He’s a cool mofo because points 1, 2 and 3

Grocery Store Outfit: February 3rd, 2010

February 4th, 2010 · Grocery Store Outfits

Today I didn’t go near a grocery store but I did however make my way to a tattoo shop looking for an artist who did black and gray tattoos. ( I need shading, kick ass shading to be precise) There was like a 2-month wait list for the one guy I liked so I’m heading to my consult on Saturday avro to see how it was gonna be done. So I suppose this is my “Going shopping for a new tattoo” look.
